25 Things About 2011

I do this list every year- I think since the days of Myspace back in 2006- as it gives me a chance to reflect on time that goes by ooohhhhh so quickly. You can see where we were, where we are and where we’re headed. Lofty expectations, a multitude of changes and a continued blessed path. Here’s to 2011…but I’m expecting a MUCH greater 2012!

 25 Things about 2011:

1) DRINKING BUDDY OF THE YEAR?

Hmmm, well here’s a new one! Lauren Feldman. First time recipient. Lauren and I would hole up at Bergins, at Mollys, Japanese restaurants, rock & roll gigs…wherever there was alcohol served, Lauren was there. ;)

2) LIFETIME SERVICE AWARD – LONGEST FRIEND(S)?

Nicki & Stacy! 30 years and counting! My Blake comes in at around 27 years. I also have a wonderful relationship with my first friend ever Jenny (Chovan) Bartlett. We met in kindergarten and our families still celebrate the holidays together! Reconnecting with grade school pal Ben Sullivan was cool, too!

3) NEWCOMER AWARD – FAVORITE NEW FRIEND?

Wow. Well, Facebook timeline said I added 189 new friends in 2011. Ha! But of all the favorite new people I would have to say Julia Herald gets top nod as she is a darling beauty who graciously opened up her home to me for her infamous Wednesday Night Potluck Jam’s. Crystal, Sita, Guy, Angie, Michael and all the gang are a wonderful addition. And I’m not sure when I met Adam Marsland- I think last year- but he continues to support my love of song and I am grateful for that. And I just adore Sara Aguilar! Seraphime, Nikki P, Jerry, Marcello, Jake, Latifa, my Expedition crew and any new member of Shurman also made my highlights list. ;)

4) HIGH POINT OF THE YEAR?

August 17.

Just Me & The Mistletoe

I had the pleasure (and the honor) last year of laying down my bluesy Christmas tune with true pros. I wrote this in ten minutes with my dear friend  Ted Russell Kamp and we went down to jam with some good ole friends at one of my favorite studios on earth Compound Studio.  Master guitarist Marc Ford, drummer Anthony Arvizu and organist Mike Malone joined Ted and myself as we created a sultry (sad) yet saucy Christmas tune! Sure to be a classic on the ole victrola. :)

Merry Christmas and have a rockin New Year! Click and enjoy!

Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Gets It Right!

I am over the moon that the Small Faces is finally getting their due in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. It goes without saying that the R&R HOF nominees are on an endless list that is controversial, agonizing, painful and at the very least subjective. Without fail there will be some amazing rock band passed over by a mediocre pop diva and everyone scratches their head and asks “HOW?” and “WHY?!” And it’s for this reason, as well as most Grammy nominations, which leaves a bitter taste in most music lover’s mouths.

But no one will question or doubt why the Small Faces have been invited. Ronnie Lane, Ian McLagan, Kenney Jones and superstar singer Steve Marriott created a sound that was explosive and fierce. It mod, pop, rock, psychedelic and raw. All in all- rock and roll!

Funkyjenn: LA Girl!

I was so flattered to be interviewed for my “beauty secrets”(!) by my dear friend Donna Lethal. Donna is a fantastic writer, comedienne and all around bad-ass Boston beauty. She’s a fiery redhead with an amazing complexion and va-va-va-voom curves so I was honored when she said “Let’s do this! Write it up!” So I did. Her book, “Milk of Amnesia” is due in the fall. Click on the below for the full article.
